The Zapata County Chamber of Commerce

 

The Zapata County Chamber of Commerce, founded in 1948, has been an active leader in the communities of Zapata County. The Chamber’s leadership has helped mold present days in Zapata County.  The Chamber Organization is a member of the United States Chamber of Commerce. It is not a government entity (it is a private non-profit organization 501 (c) (6). 

 

The Chamber is headed by a Board of Directors elected by membership. The Board is made up of nine (9) members three of whom are elected for a three year term. The Board appoints officer.

 

The Chamber of Commerce Mission:

To provide vision and leadership to develop, promote and protect the resources and interests of tourism, business, and workforce development in Zapata County.

 

To encourage the orderly development of capital resources, including human resources, financial capital, and infrastructure in Zapata County.

 

To make Zapata County the most business-friendly region in Texas and enhance our members’ success through aggressive programs of advocacy, member benefits and services, and actionable information. To be a proactive force to ensure the success of the Zapata County area.

    

Promotions & Attractions: The Zapata County Chamber of Commerce must continue its effort in promoting all of the resources the county has to offer to the thousands of visitors from throughout Texas, the United States, Mexico, and Canada. 

 

Action Plan: Tourism / Promotions & Attractions:

v  Zapata County Visitor’s Guide

v  Design & Construction of a fully integrated Website

v  Attract & Host Major Tourism Events

v  Conduct Major Fund-Raising Events Annually

v  Promote & Market Falcon Lake/Reservoir

v  Promote & Market Outdoor Recreation & Attractions

v  Attract Winter Texans

v  Beautification Programs

Promote and Market through various mediums including but not limited to the following:

v  Website and E-Promotions

v  Visitor Guide and Related Publications

v  Hosting Major Events & Attractions

v  Shows and Expos

v  Radio, TV and Print Ads

The Zapata County Chamber of Commerce has approximately 250 members.  As the county grows and the number of businesses in the community increase so must the size of the membership.  To do this the Chamber must be ready to deliver products and services that the members need.

 

The Zapata County Chamber of Commerce must serve as the unified voice to carry the needs of the business community to representative of government as of every level.
