Colonel Antonio Zapata Museum:
The Colonel Antonio Zapata Museum is named after Col. Zapata, a Guerrero, Mexico native, who became a successful military man, rancher and land holder. Exhibits include relics and historic artifacts, nature topics, and history of a community that dates back to 1748. The museum was located at the corner of 6th St & Highway 83 in Zapata.

Frontier Museum:
A home town museum with an eclectic collection of nature exhibits, Indian artifacts, and much more. Highway 496, just off Highway 83.

La Paz County Historical Museum:
La Paz County Historical Museum is located in San Ygnacio, just 15 minutes north of Zapata, one of the most historic villages along the Rio Grande. It is housed in a near century old hand cut limestone building located on the grounds of the Arturo L. Benavides Elementary School.
The museum features exhibits that include photos of old Zapata, antique ranch furniture, early medical equipment and early cooking utensils, as well as a certified Texas Heritage Resource Center. It is a regional source for teaching Texas history. The museum is open Monday – Friday, from 7:30am until 4:00pm, during the school year, and by special request.
